Balmain revamps Barbie and Ken
If you’ve always wanted to be a Barbie girl in an Aqua Barbie world, Balmain is here to help. Creative Director Olivier Rousteing described the collaboration at WWD like a “bridge between Barbie and the Balmain couture universe, of a house born in Paris in 1945”. The 70-piece collection – ranging from 195 to 29,990 euros (CA $ 280 to CA $ 43,060) – teases unisex styles as Ken can be seen wearing a pink dress in a promotional photo. Launching January 13, expect everything from graphic tees to satin ball gowns in pinks, pinks and more.
Cloak of Heart joins the metaverse
Cape de Coeur de Vancouver is the most recent Canadian brand to join the metaverse. In collaboration with digital artist Tony Murray and acclaimed Creative Director Isabel Martinez (Isabelita Virtual), the trio have just released a collection of three NFT special editions, inspired by the design of the brand’s signature Guardian cape. There’s also an accompanying video that highlights the waterproof nature of the capes and plays on the typical rainy weather of British Columbia.
Gucci celebrates the year of the tiger
Gucci embraces its stripes with the launch of Gucci Tiger. In honor of the Chinese New Year, a selection of clothing and accessories for men and women will feature bold and playful interpretations of one of Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s favorite animals. While the design will appear on various sweatshirts, sneakers and handbags, the tiger theme will also pervade all packaging and store windows.

Nobis adds a new global ambassador to its star lineup
