Fashion designers take home cash prizes at Progressive Tailors Club premiere

A new The film, The Progressive Tailors Club, recently premiered at the Filmhouse Cinemas IMAX, Lekki, Lagos in an atmosphere of conviviality and undiluted entertainment.

The event was sponsored by the soft drink brand Bigi, produced by Rite Foods, which has consistently shown its support for the growth of the Nigerian film industry.

The highlight of the premiere was a fashion contest hosted by Bigi for 20 shortlisted fashion designers across the country who had entered an online campaign to showcase their creativity.

Three winners eventually emerged from the competition, and they include Debbie Kouture of Ekiti State, who scooped the top prize of N150,000; while The Daiamen and Lamoimee, both from Lagos, came out second and third with N100,000 and N50,000 respectively.

The film’s producer, Niyi Akinmolayan, congratulated the premiere sponsor and said he was confident the film would be enjoyed by moviegoers. Speaking about the film, he said the film is built around the nature of Nigerians but from the perspective of tailors as they come up with different characters that are sometimes funny and provocative.

In her remarks, Bigi Brand Manager Boluwatife Adedugbe said the company is committed to promoting Nigerian talents in entertainment, special skills and “idea entrepreneurship”.

She noted that the film industry contributes massively to the gross domestic product of the country and should be helped to create more income for young Nigerians attracted to it.
