LVMH March 24, 2022 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers 2022, 9th edition: LVMH unveils the list of 8 finalists


The semi-final of the LVMH Prize took place from March 4 to 9, 2022. Nineteen young designers selected from the 1,900 candidates presented their collections during the showroom and on our digital platform,

The Prize Committee of Experts and, for the second time, the general public, have selected eight brands that will compete in the final.

The designers will present their collections to the Jury during the final at the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

The LVMH Prize Jury will select the winners of the LVMH Prize and the Karl Lagerfeld Prize from among the finalists.

The eight finalists are:

SS DALEY by Steven Stokey Daley, UK, menswear

TOKYO JAMES by Iniye Tokyo James, Nigeria, menswear

WINNIE NEW YORK by Idris Balogun, USA, menswear

Delphine Arnault declares: “The semi-final, which took place both in the showroom and online, allowed us to discover the work of the shortlisted designers. I would like to salute their talent and their enthusiasm, and to congratulate them all. I particularly enjoyed discussing with each one and I was won over by their inventiveness, their way of celebrating know-how and craftsmanship, as well as their approach to environmental issues.

I thank the Experts for their involvement, as well as the public who voted for the second consecutive year: more than 62,000 people were invited to select their favorite candidate.

This year, the designers who reached the final of the LVMH Prize come from Canada, Ireland, Japan, Nigeria, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. The whole Jury and I will be very happy to meet them during the final at the Louis Vuitton Foundation.”

This is why the Louis Vuitton Foundation for Contemporary Art opened its doors to the public in October 2014 in a sumptuous building created by Frank Gehry, as part of LVMH’s long-term artistic patronage.

Driven by this “passion for creativity”, LVMH has been supporting the world of fashion around the world for many years through corporate philanthropic initiatives, including:

  • the ANDAM Fashion Awards (National Association for the Development of Fashion Arts)

  • the Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival

  • Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London

  • the investment fund for young creators created by the Ministry of Culture and Communication.

This same passion led the LVMH Group to launch the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. This initiative makes it possible to stimulate the dynamics and the emergence of new talents essential to the vitality and diversity of the fashion ecosystem, a role perfectly in line with the responsibilities of the world leader in luxury.
