More than a decade as a working member of the Royal Family has taught the Princess of Wales how to dress for all occasions – and all weathers. In her role as Rugby Football League patron, Kate traveled from her home in Windsor to the DW Stadium in Wigan on Saturday to watch the England v Papua New Guinea quarter-final of the 2021 Rugby League World Cup , and she dressed for the inevitable rain in a bold poppy red coat. A custom design by Alexander McQueen, the cheerful piece has become a favorite of the Duchess, who first wore it to the opening of her Hold on exhibition in 2020.
Lying underneath to protect yourself from the November cold? A brown Gabriela Hearst turtleneck. The Princess also turned to the sustainability-conscious designer earlier this week, during her visit to Scarborough in another tonal look – shrugging a Max & Co coat over the camel Betti dress from the Uruguayan designer, which she paired with taupe Ralph Lauren pumps in the brand’s Celia style and a beloved DeMellier bag. If Kate is in the process of evolving her style (see the vintage Chanel blazer she picked up for a visit to the Olympic Park in October), she could do a lot worse than put herself in the hands of Gabriela Hearst.
